Question: hi i am doing a EPQ course at my college and i need some ideas.
I am researching about the way guitars are made and also the different music that goes with guitars so could you please put any type of music down with guitars involved i know there is loads but i would like some to do with rock and heavy metal i already have some ideas and just need a few more to get started thanks =]

Answer: I recommend you watch the documentary ‘It Might Get Loud’, it’s available on dvd, is worth a watch, and is centred around the different eletric guitar stylings of Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, Jack White of The White Stripes, Raconteurs and Dead Weather, and The Edge from U2. All of these bands are worth looking at for your project too 
Also the work of Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) for metal, as they were among the originals. It would probably be a good idea to look at Status Quo for the way they only ever used 2 chords per song.
If you really wanna go back to the beginning of when guitars entered popular music, you need the background of the blues, so go look up Robert Johnson and Howlin’ Wolf.
Musicians such as Slash are famous for using particular guitars, in his case Gibson Les Paul’s.
Paul McCartney is a famous left-handed player.
And… look up different types of pedals and effects too, Matt Bellamy is the guy to look at for that.
