Another guitar course question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
I just really have to get this down once and for all. Thanks
I’m going to guess that you haven’t spent much time reading college Web sites yet. If you study the college music program web pages and/or the college catalog, you can discover what courses are necessary to complete a music degree. Typically, music majors take instruction in their instrument(s), join large and small ensembles, learn music theory and composition, ear training & sight singing, keyboard skills, music history, as well as the required general education courses (math, english, history, language, etc).
Examples of college music program pages:

(click on the music majors pdf – right menu)

After you’ve read a little more, don’t be afraid to make an appointment to speak with someone from a college music department. They would be glad to advise you and clear up any questions you have.
There are actual courses on playing the guitar — actually, many levels of courses. There’s one that will teach you the basics of how to play a guitar, then there are some that introduce you to different kinds of guitars, and then there are more advanced ones that teach you theory and technique. There should be music – guitar somewhere around there.
