We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of guitar course. Let’s take a look:
Question: Can you tell me what this chord is called? I want to do a chord progression for it. In fact if your feeling really smart you could give me the progression but telling me what this is could help
Answer: Asus2
I’m feeling really smart today, so I’ll give you a chord progression based around that chord:
Asus2 – Dsus2 – Asus2 – E, repeat
I assume you know how to play the E. the Dsus2 is:
4th string open
3rd string 2nd fret
2nd string 3rd fret
1st string open
Also, for your Asus2, don’t play the low E string.
i think it is Asus2
i believe it to be an A5th chord
It is the Asus2 in the second inversion which places the 5th in the bass, but is also an Esus4 with the 4th doubled.
Asus2 = E A E A B E = 5 1 5 1 2 5
Esus4 = E A E A B E = 1 4 1 4 5 1
Both work. Both could be used as dominant chords which means they will resolve to the chord they are the 5th of. A will go to D. E will go to A.
Here’s a different progression for you: Esus4 / Am / Esus4 / Am // F / G / Em / Am //
Well it’s a thought anyway. If you wanted something better, I would want to be paid!
